Favourite Morning Healthy Routines

To feel great throughout the day takes setting yourself up first thing in the morning.

Here are a few of my favourite routines I do on most (not every!) day to keep me healthy for the rest of the day ahead of me.

I spend a lot of time in the car driving - to classes, errands and also with my children.  I am often hungry and need to keep my energy levels up, so I find if I have a few different choices ready in the car, it will help me keep the hunger at bay (and also help the bank balance too).  Some of my staples are fruit, rice crackers, nuts, bliss balls and vegetable sticks.

I like to always keep a water bottle filled with fresh water in the car as well so I can keep rehydrated throughout the day.

First thing in the morning before breakfast I have a class of water with either apple cider vinegar in it or some lemon juice.   The benefits of this (just to name a few) is to aid your digestive system and reduce the feeling of hunger.

For breakfast I need something that will keep me going until lunch time as I often have a few classes in between.  My favourite bowls for breakfast are chia pudding (chia seeds soaked overnight in coconut milk, and I add berries, LSA and shredded coconut before eating), or homemade bircher museli - also topped with all the goodies before eating.

Alternatively I have a couple of poached eggs on soughdour toast with some avocado, tomato or mushrooms on the side.  All these option are  healthy for you, and mix up with what you like the best.

In the morning, often it is hard to find some time to sit and meditate.  However, before getting out of bed (while still lying down and with my eyes closed!) I like to set my intention for the dailywith my daily affirmations.  This helps me focus on the day with a positive outlook.  Some of my favourite short mantras are "All is well", "Happy and healthy" or "Calm and in control".
